"That was SO intense, Dad!!!"

I would love to tell you that my heroic husband saved us from this prehistoric creature as it tried to attack us but that is not true. What really happened is my goofball husband literally pulled this snapping turtle out of the river. I was sitting in the chair and jumped and ran away faster than I've ever run before. Mark jumped up on the bench (you can see his feet) and yelled things such as "Dad...what are you doing!!" and when it was over said "That was so intense" about 25 times!! Jade, well she was just screaming! Mike was laughing and ordering me to take pictures!

Poor guy probably had the scariest experience of his life! He's running for the safety of the river, away from the maniac turtle hunter!

Camping Again...

Tis the season where the majority of tales will revolve around camping! After fishing with nets last weekend, Mark wanted to fish with a rod and worms. We found a quiet spot and spent a couple of hours catching and releasing fish. Well, they did....I brought a chair and a book and yelled out "Good for you" or "Nice one" at appropriate times!

There were some pretty big snapping turtles in this fishing spot. They are so ugly! They even had fungus growing on their tails and shells. So gross. No one was allowed to stand in the water to fish with nets here!

Later, we caught this monster!!

Karen and Ed pitched their tent and stayed the night. Good times as always!

  • Before we left to come home on Sunday Mike was chasing the kids with a green pinecone that looked like a huge caterpillar. Mark was trying to get away from him and ran right into a tree. He had a huge goose egg on his forehead. Thankfully he's alright. All that is left now is a small bruise there and one on his cheek.
  • Jade asked me to find her a school that was open for the summer. She cannot believe that there isn't one!! We signed her up for a day camp the first week of summer and she is ok with that! She isn't even nervous about taking the city bus to get there!! I'm more nervous than she is...
  • We have had so many severe thunderstorms here in the last week or so. The weather is really, really wierd.

Moneybags and Fishing

Miss Jade brought a bag of money camping with her this weekend. She wanted to go to "the candy store" and buy her own treats. She just kills me sometimes!

Mark brought his friend Noah camping with us. They spent hours catching fish with nets.

Jade got in the action too! She was so excited when she caught her first fish. Then she was hooked (ha).
